Spending Christmas in Ibiza
THERE are a few tourists in Ibiza during Christmas as compared to during summer. However, this may well be a time to spend an intimate moment without being disturbed by other foreign tourists. The noisiest of the tourists here are the British and the Dutch but they are nowhere to be found during the Christmas season because most of them are back at home with their families. But for adventurous and honeymooning couples including those with kids in tow, now is a time for you to spend a Christmas holiday in Ibiza. Ibiza is after all the house music capital of the world and parties here are experienced 24 hours daily.
It’s just like a casino. You can come in at 5 a.m. and you can leave at 11 a.m. The party never stops. Everywhere, tequila and beer are flowing with some of the best cocktail mixes in the world. It’s not just the Mediterranean flair that is abundant here, the best spirits and wines here are mixed and collated from all over the world – from Tenerife to the Carribean, from Tahiti to Thailand. And beach resorts here are adorned with the Christmas lights and the Christmas spirit during the entire holiday season. They are equipped with very accommodating hospitality staffs who speak fluent English.
And it’s not as cold as it is in mainland Europe. Since this is smacked right in the middle of the Mediterranean, Ibiza Island has the lowest temperature of only 3 degrees Celsius during Christmastime. That’s 6 degrees more over what you can get in mainland Europe where temperatures can drop as low as -3 degrees especially in the Alps or in the Pyrenees. Here in Ibiza, you cannot skinny dip or tan yourself during winter though because the water will be too cold. But you can still enjoy the sights off-coast by going scuba diving.
Resorts here also double as scuba diving schools and facilities and are staffed with very competent diving instructors and diving masters. Other than that, these resorts also have 24-hour casinos and golf courses. These golf courses are likewise staffed with PGA-certified caddies and instructors. And did I say earlier to bring your kids without disturbing your honeymoon? Hotels in Ibiza have nurseries staffed with child psychologists and equipped with all the toys for boys and girls of all ages that you can imagine. That’s one of the attractions here. You don’t need to worry on where to place your kid if you would like some moments of intimacy with each other. These nurseries are open 24 hours a day after all.
Forget about the rowdiness of summer. If you have visited Ibiza during that season and compare it with Christmastime. Here during the winter season, you will get to see the real Ibiza behind what you have frequently seen in movies or TV shows. The real Ibiza is peopled with very hospitable locals where you can chat with them if you know a little Spanish. They are not fluent in English though as only those employed in beach resorts are fluent in English.
